How Your Donation Makes an Impact
When you give to the United Way of Hocking County, you are not just making a donation, you are investing in a system built for accountability. Here is how it works:
Step 2
We Vet: Community partner organizations apply to receive funding. Each one goes through an application, a personal interview, and a scoring process to ensure they meet our standards.
Step 3
We Fund: Approved partners receive funding, paid directly to service providers and billing accounts. Cash is never given to individuals, ensuring your donation is used exactly as intended.
Step 4
Community Benefits: Hocking County residents get connected to vetted, trustworthy organizations that are equipped to help.
What's Next: Giving Back in Times of Crisis
We are working to expand the way we serve our community. Through our planned Impact Model, United Way of Hocking County will be able to give directly back to community members and employees of donor companies who face sudden tragedy, a house fire, an accident, or a loss, without requiring extensive paperwork or a lengthy process.
Because the people who give to us are also our neighbors. And when they need help, we want to be there. Stay tuned as we continue to grow.
ALICE Program
The ALICE program supports members of our community who are working but still struggling to make ends meet. ALICE stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. Whether it is help with gas to get to work, emergency assistance, or connecting to resources, United Way of Hocking County is here to help bridge the gap.

Over 40 Years of Serving Hocking County
United Way was founded on a simple idea: that communities are stronger when people come together to support one another. That mission has guided United Way chapters around the world for over a century, and it has been the foundation of our work in Hocking County for more than 40 years.

Today, United Way of Hocking County continues that legacy. We are a locally operated, community-focused organization dedicated to making sure residents of every age, from youth to seniors, have access to the support they need, right here at home.
The People Behind the Mission
United Way of Hocking County is led by a dedicated director and a volunteer board of community members who believe in the power of local giving. This is not about any one person, it is about a team united by a shared commitment to Hocking County.
Executive Director
Sherry joined United Way of Hocking County in May 2025 and works to strengthen the partnership between the giving and serving sides of our community, with a special focus on youth, education, and opportunity.
